About the Opportunity

Stratum Group is partnering with an established industrial manufacturer seeking a Manager of Quality to lead quality-control programs within a metal fabrication environment.

This role requires significant experience supporting the manufacture of fabricated metal products, including welded assemblies, pressure-containing equipment, structural components, or similar engineered products. The Manager of Quality will oversee inspections, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, documentation, and continuous improvement while partnering closely with Engineering, Production, customers, and third-party inspectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead quality-control programs for fabricated and welded metal products.

  • Develop and manage Inspection and Test Plans, quality procedures, project data books, and compliance documentation.

  • Ensure products meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and applicable ASME, API, and AWS requirements.

  • Oversee incoming-material, in-process fabrication, welding, and final product inspections.

  • Maintain material traceability, weld maps, shop travelers, inspection records, and certification documentation.

  • Perform or oversee visual and liquid penetrant weld inspections.

  • Administer welder qualification testing and maintain performance records.

  • Coordinate Authorized Inspector audits, National Board reviews, customer inspections, and regulatory audits.

  • Supervise hydrostatic testing and final product release.

  • Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quality performance.

  • Lead root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous-improvement initiatives.

  • Train and mentor quality, welding, and fabrication personnel.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive quality-control experience involving fabricated metal products and multi-stage welding or manufacturing processes.

  • Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification.

  • Strong working knowledge of ASME Sections I, VIII, and IX, along with applicable API and AWS standards.

  • Experience reading fabrication drawings, engineering specifications, weld documentation, and NDT reports.

  • Experience managing inspections, audits, quality documentation, and product traceability.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field; or

  • At least 10 years of progressive quality-control experience in metal fabrication, including leadership responsibility.

Additional API, AMPP/NACE, or related inspection certifications are preferred.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
