Senior Estimator – Industrial Process Solutions

Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Houston, Texas

About the Opportunity

Stratum Group is partnering with an established industrial manufacturer seeking a Senior Estimator to develop accurate, competitive proposals for custom-fabricated equipment and industrial process projects.

This role will review technical requirements, prepare detailed material and labor estimates, coordinate vendor pricing, and support opportunities from initial RFQ through project handoff. The Senior Estimator will also mentor junior team members and help improve estimating tools and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review RFQs, drawings, specifications, and project documentation.

  • Prepare detailed estimates for materials, labor, subcontractors, and manufacturing activities.

  • Develop commercial proposals, pricing strategies, assumptions, and delivery schedules.

  • Create material takeoffs, bills of material, and labor-hour estimates.

  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.

  • Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, and Quality.

  • Identify technical, commercial, scheduling, and execution risks.

  • Communicate with customers to clarify scope and proposal requirements.

  • Maintain estimating records, cost data, and bid documentation.

  • Mentor junior estimators and review estimates for accuracy.

  • Support continuous improvement through post-award and lost-bid analysis.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Five to seven years of estimating experience in industrial manufacturing, metal fabrication, engineered equipment, or a comparable project environment.

  • Experience estimating custom-fabricated metal products or industrial process equipment.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of material.

  • Strong knowledge of material costing, labor estimating, fabrication methods, and supplier pricing.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP or estimating systems.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and mentoring skills.

Experience with code-compliant pressure-containing equipment or similar engineered products is preferred.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
